When driving to Quepos, the best advice is to relax and enjoy the scenery. It is an absolutely stunning drive. An excellent alternative to driving is to fly. If you would prefer to drive, you can rent a car at the Juan Santa Maria International Airport in San Jose, but we recommend renting a car in advance through your Geo representative.

When you drive out of the airport (you can only go one way), get into and stay in the left hand lane. You will see an exit on the left hand side (it’s the first left possible). Make a U-turn here (don’t worry, it’s allowed). Now you are going in the right direction. Stay in the left lane on this highway until you see an exit for ATENAS (approximately 8-10 miles) and exit to the right (the ramp goes uphill). Make a left and this road will go up and down, and curve from left to right, but don’t worry. Stay on this road and enjoy the view. You will eventually start seeing signs for JACO. Follow these signs. When you actually reach Jaco, stay on the main highway and pass it. You will now be following signs to QUEPOS. After you pass a little town called DAMAS, you are very close. Another 5 km along the road you will see a small sign on the right hand side that says “Quepos - 4 km”. Just beyond that sign is another that says “Islas Damas – 1km”. Turn right there (another very narrow dirt road with rows and rows of palm trees on both sides). Follow this to the end, approximately 1 km, and you are there.........finally!
